What we do

We source our wood as locally as possible, to date this has been within 15 miles of the farm and sometimes it’s just the other side of the hill! Typically our wood consists of Ash, Sycamore, Beech and Silver Birch, sometimes you’ll find a piece of Cherry or even Poplar but we avoid softwood!

Our naturally dried logs are allowed to season, we process the lengths of timber producing a typical 8″ log ideal for the standard log burner! Once split into logs we put the firewood into “dumpy” bags and store them in the large barns where the air can circulate freely around the bags allowing the logs to dry even further! We aim to reduce the moisture content to less than 20% in line with Woodsure legislation, allowing a better and more efficient burn.

Our kiln dried logs are sourced locally for those customers that prefer that option for their fires, chiminea, pizza ovens and fire pits and we supply those in “dumpy” bags

Supplying to several local pubs we are given specific requirements for their larger open fires, our machinery and processor can be adjusted to cut longer or shorter logs to your preference.

We supply firewood in dumpy bags because it’s easier for us to handle, we can deliver to your door and pour the bags out for you. Delivery is free of charge for large dumpy bags within 10 miles of the farm (typically that is from Guisborough to Hilton, Chopgate to Nunthorpe), from a single dumpy bag, up to trailer loads of four, six or even eight bags.
